Cub Scout Pack 62 runs a year round program. We have a more engaged schedule that coincides with the traditional school year, complete with pack and den meetings, outings, overnight campouts, service projects, district events, and more. During the summer we'll run a reduced, but fun filled program to keep cubs engaged.
From September to May, we'll meet on the first Monday of each month as a full pack. During this time, we'll come together to learn and have fun, celebrate major awards, plug upcoming events, and of course, have that famous Cubmaster minute. This is also a great time for cubs and parents alike to connect with each other.
Den meetings are held all the other Monday's of the month and is where we break out into the individual grade levels or "Dens" and embark on nationally curated curriculum which we call adventures. Each adventure represents an opportunity for cubs to learn about the outdoors, skills for life, citizenship, service, and the core of becoming that future leader. Some adventures may take one meeting to complete, while others may take several. Awarded belt loops will help your scout mark all of their completed adventures.
When the regular school year ends in May, we'll switch to a reduced, but equally engaging wild summer program. We won't meet regularly but we'll have two to three exciting events per month lined up. Activities may include fire or police station visits, service projects, TV station tours, pizza parties, aquatic adventures, and more.
Other events we hold throughout the year include:
We give back to the community. Events include creating Christmas cards, picking up trash, and donating to local food pantries.
We go on at least three overnight adventures a year. Two multi-night campouts in the fall and spring, with an overnight during the summer.
Other outings can include Rain Gutter Regatta, police or fire station tours, our annual Bike Rodeo, Adventure Camp, and more.
District-wide events provide an opportunity to not only have fun, but cross over with Packs and units from across the Arrowmoon District.
No Pack would be complete without the classic Pinewood Derby race. Held each January, this event is sure to bring out that competitive sprit.
Rock Day is also a time honored tradition. Newly joined scouts will get a rocket for free to launch each fall.
There may be more events other than the ones listed above that the Pack holds each year. Pack members can tune into weekly emails from the Cubmaster, attend monthly pack meetings or planning meetings to learn more about what's on the calendar.
